Emory and a partner kill Chico and pull off the bank job without Rio's knowledge. The heist goes wrong and a young girl is killed. Dad accuses Rio of the crime. Dad has one last private talk with Rio, again attempting to absolve himself for all he has done. Rio replies, "You're a one-eyed jack around here, Dad, but I've seen the other side of your face". Rio tells him he had been imprisoned for the last five years, but Dad calls it a lie.
Also a board is required made from another 52-card pack with two jokers from which the four jacks have been removed, leaving 50 cards. Each of the 50 cards is cut to make two square pieces which are pasted onto two cells of the 10x10 board - see illustration. The exact arrangement of the cards on the board is not critical except that the four joker spaces should be in the corners. Usually the cards are placed in some sort of symmetrical or spiral sequence, to create a pleasing visual pattern.
The One Eyed Jack
Occasionally a player will have a card in hand that is dead, in the sense that both spaces corresponding to that card are already occupied (at least one of them by playing a jack). Some allow the holder of a dead card to discard it and draw a replacement from the stock. This does not count as a turn.
In a standard deck, the men drawn on these cards are drawn facing sideways, so that only one of their eyes is shown (hence, they appear to be "one-eyed"). The other two jacks are drawn facing the viewer so that both of their eyes are shown:
One eyed jacks is a phrase most often used to describe cards that are being declared wild. It is a convenient way to specify that half the jacks should be wild, and as an ancient part of poker slang, it's also just fun to say.
In Chapter 16 (Prison/The Hole), when you are in the flooded sewers under the prison, just before you reach the ladder leading out of the water, look for a small hallway that terminates in a collapsed dead end. In the rubble is a jack-in-the-box with an eye patch. Shoot it to get the trophy. 2ff7e9595c
